Originally from a small town in Southern Oregon, I am the youngest of three and the aunty to four. I spent 2005-2016 living in Central Oregon where I attend Oregon State University and was immersed in the Hospitality & Tourism industry. During my 11 years in Bend, Oregon I opened and operated a successful Latin restaurant Barrio and co-founded a unique mobile bar business The Swig Rig.

In the Summer of 2010, in the midst of restauranteur life, I witnessed the birth of my niece, surrounded by family, Drs, nurses and a doula . After the birth I kept sharing about my experience; the amazement of the pregnant female body, how childbirth works and how important support people are. I immediately learned that not many wish for this same experience, and in fact this was a calling for me.

In the Fall of 2010 I attended a Doula training with Doulas of North America (DONA). Immediately following I supported many friends through their births and continued to be hired by word of mouth.

By 2014 I was ready to expand my knowledge and I attended a Childbirth Educator training with the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA) at Bini Birth in Los Angeles.

About the same time I got into birthwork I began teaching classes for barre3, a fitness studio. Within months of joining the studio I became the lead instructor and mentor for new instructors.  While teaching barre classes I began to see firsthand the benefits of movement for my clients both before, during and after childbirth. I was onto something and continued to encourage my doula clients to keep up a fitness routine.

In 2016 I made a big leap to New York City for adventure and opportunity. I resumed teaching classes for barre3 at their West Village location and took on the full-time role of Running Program Manager at Every Mother Counts, a maternal health non-profit.

In 2017, I began to truly merge fitness and birthwork when I became a trainer at Fit Pregnancy Club (FPC-NYC), a boutique pre/post natal fitness studio. I got certified as a Pre/post Natal Corrective Exercise Specialist & Diastasis and Core Consultant through Fit For Birth and began taking private clients. It became clear to me that women needed guides beyond their medical caregivers.

In 2018, I founded The Fit Doula. We educate, support and move mindfully with women pre and postnatally in a one on one setting to build the foundation for motherhood. We envision a future with increased access to safe and functional pre/post natal movement coaching, where women are empowered by their pregnancy and where pregnancy is viewed as a wellness.

Now that the biz has been birthed I look forward to birthing my own children someday soon!
